Tylmen was born in the dorms of Northwestern University by our founder, Lloyd Yates. One day his father cleaned out his cluttered closet and gathered hundreds of unused vintage and designer neckties to give to his son for his game day outfits. Lloyd decided to sell most of the ties on campus for discounted prices. After telling his friends and neighbors about his new product offerings, he sold nearly 60 ties in his first week, growing attention and attraction online and in the community.
Lloyd wanted to transform his dorm room operation into a legitimate fashion business -- a long time passion. The brand is official and the vision is clear - to empower others on their journey to becoming their best selves, especially in the face of trial and adversity, something Lloyd had to embrace during his collegiate athletic career. Tylmen seeks to be at the forefront of environmentally conscious brands as we continue to use recycled fabrics, gain more control of our supply chain, and discover ways to better enhance our globe.
